New Year, New Everything
1 Feb 2026 · 📖 in 2 minutes 2026 and beyondI'm not usually one for "new year new me" posts but 2026 feels different. This year is shaping up to be one of those years where everything changes at once. New house, new job, and I'm getting married.
No pressure then.
The house hunt
In a spur of enthusiasm just before I finished up at my last job we put an offer on a house. And it was accepted! So began the first of a many big commitments I'm making to my partner, to London, and, unfortunately, the bank.
Overall the whole process went quite smoothly with completion just shy of Christmas (and 2ish months since the offer, props to Lawyers and Estate Agents who earned their money). After a quick jaunt to Kendal for Christmas our thoughts turned to moving, 2 days, 5 movers and 2 vans later and we're celebrating the new year on our new roof!
New role
In a similar vein I resigned from my previous company back in April. Due to a long notice period I knew I would have a bunch of time to prep and choose where I was going yet. Though not knowing what, exactly I was moving on to was a little unnerving. Still I back myself.
I'm almost a month into my new job at Lupa and it's going great! They're a company looking to disrupt the world of Vet Practice software (PIMS, or Patient Information Management System). I feel so enlivened by the new problems, the new people and the new customers. Vet practices aren't something I have a lot of experience with - we're fortunate that our little bundle of joy, Peaches, has been mostly ok (barring a few times when she forgets to drink water).
The future!
Finally, my wedding is now ~70 days away! Super excited to what awaits us in France and I can't wait to celebrate with friends and family.
It's going to be a busy few months!
